I am an English songwriter, writer and professional seafarer. I’ve spent more than thirty years working at sea and now serve as a merchant ship captain. I’ve been writing songs since my teens, drawing inspiration from a lifelong love of Tolkien, fantasy, folklore, history and the English landscape.

My music draws mainly on folk and acoustic traditions, exploring ideas of departure, memory, place and enchantment. My recent work includes a collection of original songs inspired by Tolkien’s world, alongside songs rooted in ancient landscapes and life at sea.
