My gig is running out today, 
I don't know what to do 
They say they don't want me to play
What's this poor singing gal to do

I need to pay my rent on time
I need this gig I thought they knew

Kids at home who rely on me, 
To pay the bills and stuff, 
If I don't have a job see you
You know it won’t be enough

Got a find another way 
To keep us afloat 
If not for tomorrow,
At least just for today

I asked my parents 
If they could help me out, 
But they got their own troubles too
My daddy’s always on the stout,
Mom is on the sauce too

The future is getting hazy 
I don't know what to do

So I'll write the songs about my life 
Maybe someone will take heed
Maybe BMI or ASCAP, 
One song is all I need 

Send it to some big-name singer
Who will listen to my plea
