Song information
Seems to me this might be a good time to insert an inspirational song…

This is a remix/remaster of a song that—if memory serves—I recorded back in August of 2008.

I’m an extremely studious bloke, and in the 16 years that have since passed, some of my views have changed; so that, were I to write this song today, I would word certain parts of it somewhat differently. I seriously considered re-writing and re-singing the lyrics for this posting.

At the end of the day, however, I decided to let what I wrote stand as is. (For one thing, I doubt I could sing it as well now as I did then!)

SPOILER ALERT: This is a rather quiet tune, but do watch out for the brief thunderstorm that occurs from 2:00 to 2:55!

I hope some of you can appreciate what I tried to do here.

Be well my friends!

Lyrics
SUMMER OF YOUR LOVE

I
In the summer of your love,
when I was just nineteen.
You came into my life.
You came and you set me free.
You shined a holy light,
into the deep dark cold inside;
and with no hiding places left,
you saved me from myself.

II
In the summer of your love,
I became grateful.
You breathed upon my heart,
a desire to be faithful.
Before the worlds were made
…Your plan already laid.
I would never have chosen You Lord,
if left to myself.

Bridge:
With nothing of value to trade,
my heart and hands were empty.
The dawning of Your grace,
remains a mystery,
born of eternity… Lord.

III
In the winter of my lifetime,
Your summer sun’s still shining.
Heaven’s smile it beckons now.
Soon I will with You be dining.
No fears and no regrets,
will stifle these tears of joy.
Jesus You are my god,
I’m Yours forever more…

Jack,
You nailed it bro. A moment in time that radically changed everything that came after. I had lost three of my best friends the year before to drug related deaths. I was next... but then this happened.
Color me forever grateful!

@Gary,
Thanks bro. I thought you might appreciate this one.
Re the "guitar brake": that brief lead solo is one of my faves. So glad to finally produce a decent mix! Earlier mixes were harsh and unbalanced.

I liked how the vocals stood out clearly so I could 'feel' the lyrics.. There's a higher reason why you need not have changed them. Just right. I liked also the phaser which was like a travelling time machine through music. Trippy nice

At around 2:14 or 2:15, when the drums and lead guitar came in, that's when I really got hooked.  Fantastic work as usual all round.

Mark,
Yeah, that mid-section where the drums and lead guitar come crashing in kinda saves the tune from being too sleepy! Glad you like it friend.

Daug,
There's that old expression: "The pupil has become the master"... That will never happen!
Thanks for years of friendship, and patient instruction.
