Song information
A philosophical rocker about life, despair, hope, spiritual guidance, and immortality…

This is one of several songs the file stems of which DID survive the Great Mac Crash of 2011. I did a bit of editing, remixing and remastering, but still wasn’t fully satisfied.

I ended up sending it to Tom Hellstens for a facelift. So deep bows to Tom for his fine work!

Hope you enjoy this one!

The boys in the band:

Yours truly Micheal Wark: Vocals, rhythm guitar, and bass.
The legendary Vic Holman: Lead guitar.
The ever and always formidable Scott Fugate: Drums and attitude.

Lyrics
BOOK OF DAYS

I
Time slips away.
Life ebbs and flows.
Where does it come from?
Where does it go?

II
We “ride the tiger,” through time and space.
Searching for truth. In need of grace.
In need of grace…

Bridge:
Powers that be, smile down on me!
Remove the veil, so I can see.

I stand surrendered, beneath Your gaze.
Please light my way in this book of days.
This book of days…

III
Earth’s siren song begins to fade.
My ears have heard the Orphic strain.
—the Orphic strain…

IV
On the horizon… LIGHT through the haze!
The final chapter (?) of this book of days?
This book of days!
Ahh….

Super rock ballad. Giant sound. Really good collab

Kenneth,
Thanks my friend! The "giant sound" is mainly the work of Tom Hellstens, who brought my original mix to life!

Dee, Todd, Daug & Al...
Many thanks friends.
I remember when sending the demo off to Vic and Scott, I told Vic to take the band Crazy Horse as his inspiration, and I suggested to Scott that he cut loose a bit more than usual and even get a little wild. I think they did a great job.
Wish they were site members!

Joyce, Kaverley, Thierry & Gary:
Thanks a lot folks. This is an old fave of mine. Glad you like it...
I miss working with Scott. Best live drummer I ever had. But he's hung up his sticks for good it seems.
Vic, though not a member, is still available for collab-ing from time to time. Sure wish he'd join up...

Absolutely love it. Very 70s retro style if you don't mind me saying. Uriah Heep would have been proud to produce this one.

Thanks Shaun,
The Uriah Heep comparison is a new one for me! Only ever heard and owned their first album on vinyl back in the day. Still remember fondly songs like "Gypsy" and "Wake Up (Set Your Sights)."
I don't mind the "70s Retro-Style" remark at all. The period from 1965-1975 was the most creative period in popular music history IMHO.
