Song information
Venturesome's back. This song goes as far back as 1992. It was one of those instances where you wake up from a dream where you heard a part of a song that hasn't existed yet or it's another tune in a very twisted and warped fashion. I had dreamed I had heard CSNY doing the chorus part. I wrote what I remembered down and the rest took care of itself. Here, I feel I have the tune the way I always heard it in my head from the beginning with harmonies and all.

Lyrics
If there was one way to make you frown again
I know I'd get something in return
And I'd show you the spike that you threw before the eyes
When the rains came, you told too many lies

CHORUS:
Wandering eyes have got the best of me
All that I know there's too much to see
Wandering eyes turned out to be the final stand
All that I know I gotta get you off my hands
Cause before I came to stay
You had gone away
When I sat with you
You broke the band in two

I've set you down in a field
Where you grip on me will fade
And everyone that comes your way won't be deceived
The meadow is warm here and can't be placed inside your mind
You're not a lost cause, you're just too numb to find

REPEAT CHORUS:

Loggins and Messina template?  The production is crisp and bright.  Enjoyed this tune.  The melody works, and the vocals are effective. The tag vocals are fab.  Bravo!

Really fine songwriting, and I love that story as well.

You play some of the nicest chord progressions, Mark. I can hear the L&M influence that Daugrin mentioned  ( maybe their song, Angry Eyes?) but I hear more CSNY.. A far better voiced Neil Young. One of your best, imo

Welcome back Mark! YEAH! One of your best, to be sure!
I hear all the influences mentioned by the other commenters.
Fab vocals over an egaging chord progression...
Really love  that lead solo as well.

I enjoyed this a lot. Yeah ... reminds me a lot of the California sounds. Quite ear wormy. I can repeat your tune quite a few minutes later. Pardon me ... I am punting between iBandstand, and writing my Book on Carbon Credits! Stealing time! Good one...a keeper!
