Song information
I'm still not sure what drove me to wrote this one, which almost could have been called "Old McDonald Through The Looking Glass." I remember some guy (I don't remember his name) getting on stage at an open mic where he had a song where one line was "he fell in a great ball of cotton," and then he would have the audience pretend to shiver or have a shudder of some kind. I think it's an entertaining song nonetheless. The slow bluesy shuffle tacked on at the beginning and end was tacked on pretty much for the heck of it. I was in a carte blance mood.

Lyrics
I've been uptown, went downtown
I went looking all around
Then I found myself across town
Then I found myself out of bounds (X3)
Then I found myself toast of the town
going down down down

CHORUS:
Farmer Cotton was never rotten
He's just too fickle, chasing after Mr. Winkle
Until he found himself in a great big pickle

Driving in his Dodge pickup cause he had the means
With his black lab that he called Weird Beans
Slammed his brakes to a stop and then he said "wow"
Ten people were on the road learning the dance the flaming cow

REPEAT CHORUS:

We find the farmer celebrating his new drink
Meant to increase brain cells so people can think
But when he jumped for joy, he crashed right to the ground
With a big explosion they heard for miles around

REPEAT CHORUS:

We find the farmer going door to door
Looking for folks to buy his linoleum floor
But when he showed his samples, they all sprung to life
So the whole town came to show their trouble and strife

REPEAT CHORUS:

Now here's the farmer getting out of bed
To make sure he had his Charles DIckens read
But in the kitchen he found his roosters in the house
They thought they were the masters and thought he was the grouse

REPEAT CHORUS:

I've been uptown, went downtown
I went looking all around
Then I found myself across town
Become the toast of the town

I've been uptown, went downtown
I went looking all around
Then I found myself across town
Then I found myself out of bounds

Ha! Clever song Mark...
Carte blanche, avant garde, whatever.
Somewhat in the spirit of Macca's "Uncle Albert."
Enjoyed very much!
