Song information
The drum machine pattern was left in on purpose as this was partially a tribute to Soul II Soul, that their big hits (Keep On Moving and Back To Life) with roughly the same thing. Also influenced by the stuff the Brothers Johnson did with Quincy Jones back in the day. Written around 2014 or '15.

Lyrics
Though this house will stand for five more years
Think I've learned all there is to know
Not getting on like you think you are
They don't play like they used to but they can still go
You can dance to that 45
Laughter In The Rain is the one to try
And in the basement living room
Lights down low and the volume's high

CHORUS:
Don't you know you are the odyssey
Cause you're taking me from here to there
Don't you know you are the odyssey
The lock and key to the treasure box that stands
Just waiting

And if you're looking for romance
Maybe you should put away your phone
If we find the way inside
Each room has a value of its own

REPEAT CHORUS:

You can take your pesos card
You can throw it out by the fridge
Cause I can give you the things you need
By the water and the freeway bridge

REPEAT CHORUS:

@Venturesome
Nice tune Mark.
I didn't listen to the radio much from 1980 to 1990, so I missed quite a lot. Never heard of Soul To Soul.
I always enjoy your lead playing. There's always something early SanFrancisco Scene about the tone and style.
It really takes me back...
Enjoyed!
