WASTED YEARS

I lived a lie, for so very long,
---a slave to public myth;
going with the flow, 
never knew I was wrong.

I played the game. I played it well.
I never knew,
I was a rebel son on the sure path to hell.

Those days of darkness...
Those wasted years...
My heart and mind were ruled by lust and fear!
I hurt the people that I most held dear.

I was a fool,
---a deluded fool;
---blinded by sin to the Golden Rule!

You shined Your Light on me,
exposing all my lies.
Your healing words cut me to the heart.

Your grace blew my pride apart!
Your love gave me a new start!

Cry! Cry!

Your sweet love is so very strong.
It shatters myths,
---kindles in the broken heart a brand new song.

I want to know You deep,
---go where You go.
You are the Light of life!
Whatever others do I will still follow You!

No more days of darkness.
No more wasted years.
My heart and mind belong to You!

Your commands... they are my delight!
No more a fool because of You,
and I'll go on serving You,
