Zoomorphisms refers to having the shape, form, or likeness of an animal; the use of animal forms in symbolism, literature, or representation. The fifth in a series of miniatures, these are Wild Turkeys. There is quite a lot in the way of orchestral effects and grotesqueries in this little piece: fluttertongued woodwinds, a trilling tuba, rim shots on the piccolo snare drum and a multitude of percussion effects.

Instrumentation: Piccolo, 3 Flutes, 3 Oboes, English Horn in F, 2 Bassoons, Contra Bassoon, E-Flat Clarinet, 2 B-Flat Clarinets, B-Flat Bass Clarinet, 2 French Horns in F, 2 Trombones, Bass Trombone, Tuba, Timpani(4), Bongos, Cuica, Long Drum, Triangle, Snare Drum, Piccolo Snare Drum, Suspended Cymbals, Castanets, Maracas, Tam Tam, Bohdran, Ganza, Caxixi, Violin I, Violin II, Viola I, Viola II, Cello I, Cello II, Double Bass I, Double Bass II

Captures the strange look and gate of our avian friends with echoes of their dinosaur ancestors. Somehow both sinester and sweet. Love it John.

Brilliant work. I see the turkeys in the image the music creates. Wonderful mastering of the instruments.
