Song information
“Tin Roof Rain” is a heartfelt folk song that traces my journey from a barefoot girl with muddy feet to a grown woman finding solace in the familiar sound of rain on an old tin roof.

When I wrote this song I tried to capture the passing of time through the lens of a constant — that being the soothing, rhythmic drumming of rain overhead.
The lyrics paint imagery of stormy summer days, long dusty roads, and a life gently shaped by memory, sound, and place. It’s a love letter to nostalgia, quiet moments, and the emotional comfort we find in small, steady things.

The music comes to life thanks to the evocative playing of two exceptional collaborators. Piotr’s guitar work adds a warm, earthy foundation — rich with texture and timing that perfectly reflects the ebb and flow of the rain described in the lyrics. Meanwhile, Gemma’s violin soars and sighs throughout the track, adding a delicate, haunting beauty. Her playing mirrors the melancholy of the lyrics, carrying both storm and stillness in every note.

This track is both deeply personal and a reminder that sometimes, the sound of rain is all the therapy we need.

Lyrics
V1
I was just a girl with muddy feet,
Sitting on the porch in the summer heat.
Storm rolled in, and the sky turned grey,
Then the rain came down and washed the day.

Chorus
Oh, the rain on the tin roof sings to me,
Like a lullaby in a minor key.
Sometimes it pounds, sometimes it sighs,
Like the breath of the world in the midnight skies.
From my early days to this old home,
That tin roof rain feels like my own.

V2
Years went by, the roads got long,
But I’d always find peace in that rhythmic song.
Now we’ve got this house with age and grace,
And a tin roof set in its rightful place.

Chorus
Oh, the rain on the tin roof sings to me,
Like a lullaby in a minor key.
Sometimes it pounds, sometimes it sighs,
Like the breath of the world in the midnight skies.
From my early days to this old home,
That tin roof rain feels like my own.

Instrumental

Bridge
It’s more than rain, it’s time gone by,
Echoes soft beneath the sky.
Each drop a thread from then to now,
And it calms my heart, I don’t know how.

Final Chorus
Yes, the rain on the tin roof heals my soul,
It knows my heart and makes me whole.
Loud like drums or soft like skin,
It plays my story from within.
From a barefoot girl to the life I’ve known,
That tin roof rain feels like home.

Your songwriting is quite impressive Mo... You mix everyday details with mystic elements...and it seems so easy (i know for a fact it's absolutely not). I guess it's called a gift. And when the music is so good ... What is there to say ? Just enjoy. A lot. Bravo. Again. Keep'em comin !

I am very familiar with the sound and smell of rain on a “tin roof”. The sound could be deafening but a tin roof also signalled the quieter stops and starts of approaching rain (and time to bring the washing in). Tin roofs and tin structures are constructed from corrugated metal sheeting and have been widely used in Australia and New Zealand. In the distant past the sheets would have been made of iron coated with tin but they have been made from steel coated with zinc for a long time. The words iron, tin or zinc are still used today for description. Thanks for the music and the memories.

journeyman troubadore level stoytelling... you are constantly building a bridge to the listeners heart, and before you know it the song is over... really stellar songwriting... then your deliver is the icing on this piece of cake... the blend in your harmonies is so "The Wailin' Jennys"... I would buy this... I would pay for this... very few internet musicians accomplish this
