Every now and then I like to try my hand at something at little different from my usual fare.
This came together rather quickly. In two days in fact.
It is inspired by a traditional Irish piece called "Brian Boru's March," which was covered on Clannad's self-titled debut album.
From WIKIPEDIA: "Brian Bóramha (c. 941 – 23 April 1014) was the High King of Ireland from 1002 to 1014. He ended the domination of the High Kingship of Ireland by the Uí Néill, and is likely responsible for ending Viking invasions of Ireland."
According to one tradition he was slain at the Battle of Clontarf.
I began with the basic theme and then introduced my own variations, thus creating an entirely new piece.
Don’t hear many pure instrumentals from you so this is a treat or you could say a feast. Like the swirling rhythms and the brooding quality of it. Good one Mike.
