Song information
As Reactor 4 blew at Chernobyl on 26 April 1986, Soviet radio presenters kept up routine broadcasts and read bland, tightly scripted lines, while officials kept the disaster low-profile and delayed public warnings until radiation alarms overseas forced a brief acknowledgment that 'something' had happened.

This song is about this disaster and how it was handled by the authorities.

Lyrics
REACTOR 4
by Gerald G ©Copyright 2026

Verse 1

Night shift under humming lights,
We pushed the limits for the chart.

Then Reactor Four woke up at once
And tore the dark apart.

Verse 2

Sirens cut through Pripyat streets,
While radios stayed calm and clean.

Graphite burned like blackened stars,
And no-one grasped the unseen.

Chorus

Chernobyl, you still ring in steel and bone.

A poisoned silence, a warning set in stone.

We carry names the wind can’t take away.

We learn, we remember, and we choose a safer way.

Instrumental

Verse 3

A Ferris wheel that never turns,
A classroom locked in time.

The forests grow through broken doors,
Reclaiming every line.

Chorus

Chernobyl, you still ring in steel and bone.

A poisoned silence, a warning set in stone.

We carry names the wind can’t take away.

We learn, we remember, and we choose a safer way.

Yes, 'something' happened and can happen again... You always choose rather unusal topics and turn them into 'something else'...It's impressive and inspiring. Your skills on composition and production shine on this.

Yes, let us not forget. I am an engineer. And I say: Do not trust the engineers and their probabilities.

But do we really learn, remember and choose safer ways?
A great song and a stark reminder of not only the carelessness of man, but the arragonce of those in charge who desire not even the greatest of disasters to stain their image. Something to remember in this day and age as well.
Thanks for sharing!

No reason for concern... when I hear that, I'm immediately concerned! Anyway, I'm here for the music. Is that a woman erotically panting on the downbeat? We need more!

Appreciate the comments folks.
@Dyl yes it is very scary to think this can happen again and why I am anti nuclear.
Your support is amazing. Thank you once again!
@KennethLavrsen yes, lets hope we learn from this, but in this day and age, I doubt it. Thank for the support!
@yoslounge thanks Omar, appreciate the support. Happy 2026 to you and your beautiful family.
@jgurner totally agree, do we ever learn from this? I seriously doubt it. Thanks for the support!
@Bass2x Hey James, yes I too get very concerned when I hear the authorities getting in quickly to try to calm us down. Hey good idea about the erotic panting on the downbeat, I'll remember that for the next song :)
