A song written by Joe Cannon that I first encountered when I auditioned to join Joe and Roger in a little country folk outfit in 1973. Written by Joe, we ("The Cannon Porter Project") have been back to it since Covid on and off, and have finally finished it to our satisfaction. This features Joe on vocals and guitars, Roger Ilott on pedal steel and myself on bass and production. Drums are based on an original track by Fred Jams from MacJams.
Oh, and there's a video - see the "Blogs" section.

Lyrics
After The Train Has Gone
©1974 Joe Cannon

Another country town another rundown railway shelter
It feels like a cold night setting in
Each sweet country mile, travelled in style
Rambling is wearing you thin

Chorus:
And there ain't no song in a railway line
After the train has gone
You miss the train it’s a losing game
And that’s the line we’re on

Same old dirty streets and newspaper sheets in the morning
The same faces all look away
Another last round and the same soul shake-down
And another first step of the day

Chorus

Thoughts overtake you, lonely wake you up highway
To a safe and sound, broken down bay
Sadness to tell, and the tolled aching bell
We gambled our tickets away.

Chorus

Nice one Neil! And a train song to boot! Second I've heard here in a week. I'm a sucker for a good train song.
You guys sound awesome. Thanks for sharing.
