I started a podcast a couple years ago. I interviewed artists where I am in Charleston, SC. I also started an event called eOpenMic during Covid where I live-streamed an online open mic that people performed on by Skyping into the live-stream. Might be interested in interviewing artists here on iBandstand or putting together an iBandstand playlist to go through and share/review like a radio program or something. Maybe there's some crossover to be found and realized with these different efforts.
A very interesting idea Noah. If memory serves, there was something like this at MacJams back in the day. At least with the interview part.
Hopefully, this forum topic generates some positive responses.

Great idea, Noah, I hope something like this can be put together for iBandstand. The show on icomp that JL Gerk used to put on was called "MUGShots" - a live broadcast then posted "podcasts" that featured icomp musicians. I have some of the old MUGShots recordings if anyone would like to hear the format/artists. Regarding the radio programming, icomp used to host the live MUGShots events, as well as had a 24/7 radio program, and a weekly broadcast show - Rich (illuminator) can share details on these.
I'd love to give MUGShots a listen. I do the same thing, a live broadcast then posted as a podcast. I'm doing one tonight and tomorrow night actually. Tonight is a local band called Uncle Tim's Bench and essentially I'm hosting a practice so it's a little different and probably a little less orderly of a presentation. Tomorrow night is a brother and sister guitar and bass duo. 7-9pm EST on Facebook/YouTube/X @booknoahgrove if anyone is interested.
I've been looking for a way to continue eOpenMic. It's gone through several formats as I've tried to lock in on a repeatable system that would be reliably interesting for participants and viewers. When it started, everyone Skyped in and I had about 20 participants doing one song each and 120 viewers. That proved very challenging to sustain and so I started hosting three local performers in studio and up to four digital guests that would join one at a time while the four of us in studio would watch and interact. I liked this format because it gave everybody at least a small live on screen audience and allowed for more interactive conversation. I think I have a better way to host digital guests now through eCamm software and am excited to try it out. But perhaps, the iBandstand community would be interested in participating in something like this. We could even share pre-recorded songs instead of live performances (if that's preferable) and then still discuss them live. Could be a fun marriage of Charleston, SC local artists and iBandstand.
I may be getting ahead of myself here because I don't really yet have a grasp on iBandstand and what the community is like. But if this sounds like something folks here would have any interest in let me know.
Regardless of eOpenMic, I would still be interested in hosting interviews of iBandstand artists and would love to learn from MUGShots.
Hi Moses, I think what you're proposing is a great idea. I'm the guy who built iBandstand, and I'd be happy to see cool things happen with it. The site is still in its infancy. We'll try things, make mistakes, regroup, then try again. Although I only host audio at the moment (for bandwidth and storage cost reasons), we could do something where there is a YouTube embed on a page dedicated to your show. At least that could get us started. Basically, the latest episode would be featured at the top, and then older episodes would be listed below that. So my advice would be to just get started. Try to get something out. Keep me in the loop so I can build a special page on the site for you.
Hi Dr_J! Awesome. Site looks great. MacJams was such a special thing for me growing up and now in my adulthood I think I miss it and would love to play a role in helping to revive something like that. Ok. I'm about to head out of the country till mid Feb but I'll work on lining some stuff up while I'm gone and get some content recorded around late Feb/March/April. That'll give me some time to familiarize myself more with iBandstand and everyone here.
