This is a jazzy tune with a touch of the exotica/island elements mixed in. Was going for something different. I used a boat load of apps and samples/libraries/loops, and afterwards it feels as much an assembled piece than composed. I wanted to finally use some of those sample libraries in BeatHawk and Blocs Wave that I’ve purchased but never touched.

I used 16 tracks in MultiTrackStudio to record the song and Lurssen mastering Console ‘Classical’ preset for the final mix sound.

iPad Apps used: SessionBand Ukulele, Soft Drummer, AUM, SoundFonts (used lots of SoundFonts), Korg iM1, BeatHawk (heavily), Blocs Wave (heavily), Odd:Hang, Koala.

The vocal samples came from a Blocs Wave library, and the ‘Gypsy Jazz’ library from BeatHawk. Brass riffs came from BeatHawk library, as well as the timpani and cymbal rolls, and extra percussion from other BeatHawk libraries. Some drum came from DrumJam app. Main melody is the Hang drum and a steel drum patch, and two flute sounds put together, all from iM1 synth. The big ‘wooosh’ waterfall/wave sound is the River Wind patch in iM1. Some extra sounds from blocs wave fill in some background holes.

I was going to record my flugelhorn on it too but my iPad is not recognizing my Zoom h5 mic for some reason. This was fun to make.
