My Stolen Microphones

05-Nov-2023 | 6:58 AM
1. Rode Compressor. No great loss. I can afford to replace it and it was almost worn out.
2. Shure SM-58b. Vocal dynamic. O I will miss that one.
3. 2 x Shure SM-57. I will have to learn to live without.

But none of that is the real subject of this post. I want to talk about microphones and pop-shields.

No matter what mic you are using you need a pop shield. Google and learn.

Condensor microphones sound strong. But they have sibliance.

Dynamic microphones sound soft but they pop if you croud them.

Stand off those microphones by at least 30c.

My Ribbon Microphone was not stolen because I left it with my wife in Taiwan.

Ribbons sound sweet and no sibliance. Very little pop. But low gain.

Match the microphone to you. Get yourself a microphone that suits you and love it, learn it, be it.

This is my Shure 58b. There are many like it but this one is mine.

Hi Pharmakues Yes find your own. I have a 58 b and 58 Shure, but I don't use it for me. The roll-off at 60 hz kills the low harmonics of my bass vocals. All the best. Telemetry (Ray)

i have a SM58 and am very happy with it. i use it with a Behringer Tube Ultra Gain Mic100 straight into GarageBand via the audio input port. it's fine for what i've been doing. but sometimes i use a Zoom H2N just cause it's easier - or because i'm outside recording frogs
