I wanted to tell y'all about an online event I'm starting up in March. It's called eOpenMic and I'm gonna be hosting it every Monday from 7-9pm EST for the foreseeable future.
The event is streamed to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Twitch (and maybe Rumble) at the handle @eopenmic
I think of it kind of like an open mic/showcase/podcast.
Just like any other open mic, I have no guarantee of turnout, only that I will show up and host the event from 7-9pm EST every Monday.
The event will feature up to 6 digital guests who join the stream via video chat, and up to 4 in studio guests at my studio "The Grove" in Charleston, SC. In studio guests will be performing live up to two songs each, and digital guests can perform live or share a recording of one song each.
I started this event right after COVID hit and it's gone through several different stages. I'm settling into a more permanent form but it still may change slightly as this new chapter of the event unfolds and I can more clearly see what will best support the event.
I still have to work out how digital guests will be joining. It used to be via Skype. But now I'm using eCamm broadcasting software which offers a live interview solution and I'm also going to play around with how Zoom integrates into eCamm once I'm back in the US on February 15th.
That said, if this sounds like something any of y'all would like to participate in, here's a form to get you plugged in. Signups are online. This form will get you the link. Keep your expectations low, but I'm hoping after a few months of consistency, I'll work out the kinks, and it'll be a decent little program.
