Though I usually try to take part in the challenge each year, I never actually sign up on the website. I just make my music and post it where ever I'm posting at the time.
It's a fun challenge, so I hope a few of you will decide to take part. Can't wait to hear the results!
I'm doing RPM this year too. I'm doing an EP that explores the ideas of chance, fate and loss of control. I'm employing some sort of chance music technique to each song, and an accompanying tarot card for overall vibe. So far they have included:
1. 12-tone matrix to determine sequence of notes (5 of Cups)
2. Roll dice to determine song parameters (Temperance)
3. Paint splatter on blank manuscript to determine notes and placement (The Hanged Man)
4. Draw at random for chord progressions (tarot card TBD)
It's been a really fun creative exercise so far and I can't wait to hear what everyone else has been working on!
